Group Shot 1 (c) Sarah Allbrook.jpg

Vesperados is an acoustic jazz quartet but not in a way you're likely to have heard before, unless you were at their very first public gig at Hot Numbers in April 2013!  Consisting of trumpet/flugelhorn, saxophone, upright bass and percussion/trombone, the group takes inspiration from the cool chamber jazz of Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker, the sophisticated Brazilian grooves of Antonio Carlos Jobim and Nana Vasconcelos, and the firey Afro-Cuban beats of Tito Puente and Chano Pozo and mixes it all up in original tunes and surprising arrangements.  Formed in Cambridge in 2012, Vesperados has been performing locally at events such as Museums at Night, Ely Jazz and Off Centre Collective.  In 2014, the group will make its debut at the Fitzwilliam Promenade Series, Cambridge Modern Jazz Club and Clare Jazz, as well as making a first studio recording.

James Brady                trumpet/flugelhorn/percussion

Alex Hitchcock           saxophone/percussion

George Gordon           upright bass

Derek Scurll                percussion/trombone
