Rob Barron Trio.
Rob studied Jazz at the Leeds College of Music where he won the Outstanding Performance award and went on to complete an MMus in jazz performance at the Guildhall School of Music in London.
Since then he has been part of a new wave of young jazz pianists playing in the hardbop tradition, drawing influences from piano greats such as Wynton Kelly, Cedar Walton, Hank Jones and Mulgrew Miller.
A mainstay of the London jazz and studio scene, Rob has performed with artists such as Al Jarreau, Marlena Shaw, Phil Woods, Bob Mintzer and Benny Golson, The BBC Big Band, The Ronnie Scotts All-stars, Jacqui Dankworth, Ian Shaw, Clare Martin, Dave O Higgins to name a few. Rob plans to record his debut quartet CD later this year.
Joining Rob will be Double Bassist Andrew Robb
Andrew Robb was born in and grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland. He started learning double bass at the age of seven and became immersed in classical and jazz music. Equally versatile in both styles he has just completed his undergraduate studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Since commencing his studies he won The BBC Radio Scotland Young Jazz Musician of the Year in 2009 and has performed several times on BBC Radio Three and Radio Scotland as a leader and as a sideman.
As a performer Andrew has been fortunate enough to have performed with international artists such Jazz Messengers trumpeter Valery Ponomarev, New York pianist David Berkman, vibraphone and marimba virtuoso Arthur Lipner, Saxophone stars Peter Ehwald, Tommy Smith and Tim Garland, top Hammond organist Tony Monaco and Norwegian double bass phenomenon Arild Andersen.
Completing the line up will be Drummer & event organiser Mark Hale. Mark is based in Bedford & has been running a regular Monday night Jazz gig since October 2014. He has invited & performed with some of the Top Jazz musicians in the country such as Vocalist Anita Wardell, Guitarist Nigel Price , Saxophonist Vasilis Xenopoulos to name a select few!
As a sideman Mark has had the opportunity to play with vocalist Tina May & Tenor Saxophonist Frank Griffith.
