Graduating from the four year Jazz degree at Birmingham Conservatoire, Holly Thomas is an experienced vocalist who takes influence from singers such as Norma Winstone, Sarah Vaughan and Becca Stevens alongside instrumentalists like Kenny Wheeler, John Taylor and Cannonball Adderley.

As a composer Holly has recorded an album of poetry set to her original music, which can be heard on the album 'The passing of the Storm'. Some of the poets featured are Wordsworth, R. S. Thomas and Leonard Cohen amongst others. Also featured on the album are Holly’s original lyrics.

As a side-woman Holly is a member of Lluis Mather’s band ‘Noose’ which has recently recorded a second album in collaboration with saxophonist Julian Siegel. 'Noose' have also been recorded by Yamaha for a cover-mounted CD on Jazzwise magazine. The band will be performing at the London Jazz Festival later in 2013.

Holly has been fortunate enough to perform in prestigious venues such as The Vortex, 606 jazz club, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, the Manchester Jazz Festival, Callander Jazz Festival the Harmonic Jazz Festival and in Birmingham Symphony Hall bar.

Joining Holly will be a great Trio led by Pianist Andrew Woodhead which will also feature Stuart Barker on the Double Bass & Mark Hale at the Drums.

Our Thanks to Mark Hale for organising our Thursday Jazz Programme!
