Jazz Night: Tom Ridout

With Wandering Yak serving 6-9pm

The Thursday Night Jazz tradition was introduced to Hot Numbers Gwydir Street by Nick Hill, known to Cambridge locals from his previous residencies at the Elm Tree and the Cricketers. We now welcome Mark Hale, a frequent guest of Nick's and outstanding Drummer, to bring fresh talent from the UK Jazz scene every Thursday. Our live music is funded through the generosity of the audience with a suggested donation of £5.

Tom Ridout: Tenor Saxophone

In his 4th year at the Royal Academy of Music, Tom can be heard playing regularly in many venues across London, such as the 606 Club, Ronnie Scott’s and the Vortex amongst others, either with his own bands or as part of other ensembles. He can also often be seen playing countrywide either under his own name or as a part of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. With NYJO Tom has performed at such venues as Buckingham Palace, The Sage in Gateshead etc, and is featured on their most recent album ‘NYJO 50’.With his own band he has performed at The Bedford Jazz Festival and is a regular at the vibrant Bear Club in Luton. He was a recent finalist in the BBC Young Musician Jazz Award 2016 and as a result has been featured in programmes on Radio 3 and Jazz FM and was a part of the broadcast of the Final on BBC Four.
