Driving down a beautiful winding road in the rolling Bedfordshire countryside with sheep capped (specked? capped implies just the tops) hills, we’re expecting to be at a loss, hit a Farm and do a U-turn. NO U-TURN NEEDED!
Boyds of Bedford reveals itself amongst a collection of interesting independent businesses, everything from 3-legged things (aka Tripods) to vintage leather sofas in Stagsden.
The new premises allows Boyds to bring tailored suits, clothing, merchandise, pretzels and of course coffee all under one roof in this exciting and expansive space. It has been great to see the space in development, Tom and Jess have worked their socks off to get their new bifold doors open for the new year so a trip out here should definitely be on the cards if you haven’t already done so.
We were honoured Boyds have chosen to work with Hot Numbers for their beans and machines and we hastily installed a 2 group Conti espresso machine and grinder serving up our popular Breakfast Wine blend. This is our 50/50 Central and South American blend, always a very chocolatey, nutty & easy going coffee.
The guys at Boyds have been a pleasure to work with and train as Sophie our head of coffee, grabbed the milk pitchers, scales and thermometer to head down and brew some delicious espressos which the attentive team quickly graced with latte art.
Barista training and product knowledge is fundamental to a great coffee and confident customer service. We understand the importance of this at Hot Numbers and it is absolutely key to our wholesale coffee offering to ensure confident baristas and a longstanding and valued business relationship we hope. Boyds is a passionate and quality focused business in every respect so we are confident that all the hard work from bean to cup will truly be in safe hands here!
It seems to be an emerging trend seeing more businesses moving away from expensive city centre locations in favour of beautiful settings with the added bonus of parking, a sensible model indeed if you can entice your followers out here which they certainly seem to have pulled off! Forthcoming look out for bike related events and a beer festival in Stagsden. Find them at Unit 8 Kinsbourne Farm, Stagsden MK43 8TS. Here’s to 2020, fine vintage threads, Pretzels with coffee and forward thinking destination locations! May this be an exciting year for all.
