Guatemala – Finca Filadelfia
Filadelfia returns! We are beyond excited to be bringing this coffee back to Hot Numbers. We had the pleasure of having Marta visit us at the roastery back in May to showcase the new harvest of all the amazing coffee and as we expected the Filadelfia was the absolute fan favourite on the cupping table, so with great pleasure we welcome back this beautiful coffee.

Additional Information
Finca Filadelfia is the name of the original Dalton family farm in Guatemala, the first coffee farm in Antigua. Originally it was split into 4 unique farms, upon the passing of the third generation of the Dalton family. Currently the farm is operated by the 5th and 6th generations of the Dalton family.
This particular coffee is picked from one of the brothers farms, which represents 1/4th of the family’s lot.
We purchased this coffee from Coffee bird, who is lead by Alex and Marta Dalton, who’s great great great grandfather pioneered Guatemalan coffee with this nephew in 1864.
Manuel Matheu (Marta & Alex’s great great great grandfather) initially borrowed the land at Finca Filadelfia, where he planted coffee in 1864. After the first harvest he travelled to London where he achieved great success in selling his crop. Upon his return he was commissioned by the president of Guatemala to teach small farmers how to grow coffee. Thus the Antigua coffee growing region was born.
Eventually Manuel sold Finca Filadelfia to his son, passing on the passion for coffee for 6 generations. Marta and Alex’s great grandmother Elisa ran the until she was 95 years old, winning Guatemala’s first two cups of excellence in 2001 and 2002.
