Mill Road Poetry Thursdays – 29th May 2025
We are delighted to announce our Spring series of Poetry Thursdays! Join us for three more poetry evenings led by Mill Road Poetry Group, in partnership with Hot Numbers Gwydir Street: Thursday 27 March Thursday 24 April Thursday 29 May. Following sold-out events with Mill Road Fringe, our new-sprung poetry group is continuing to bring spoken word to Cambridge in 2025. Poetry brings together the many voices of our city and enables us to explore ourselves and the world around us within a supportive community. Furious, joyful, timid or loud, all poetry is welcome, so please come along! The format will be a programme of readings by local poets and writers, curated and led by poet, Jon Morley. Poetry Thursdays at Hot Numbers is all about the atmosphere – spoken word poetry in a fabulous neighbourhood café, for a small, respectful audience, is relevant, poignant and powerful. Come and experience something special! Tickets will be available to purchase one month before each event and can only be purchased for one event at a time. Bookings are now live for the third event on Thursday 29th May. Entry is £7. Doors open at 6.30pm. Poetry starts at 7.00pm and runs until around 9.30pm. Refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the evening. To ensure that each poet receives equal support, we also ask that you stay for the whole evening. We know that Poetry Thursday tickets sell very quickly – but don’t despair if you find this event is sold out! You can make sure that you have advanced warning about future events by adding your name to the Mill Road Poetry Mailing List (see below). If you have a ticket and find you can’t attend, please cancel via Eventbrite so that others can take your place, even if it is the day of the event itself. Many thanks!~*~Mill Road Fringe’s Poetry Thursdays have proved so popular that a spin-off Mill Road Poetry Group has been established. Please contact Emily Patterson at millroadpoetrygroup@gmail.com to find out more and to add your name and email address to the mailing list, so that you can hear about future poetry events in Cambridge, including plans for an upcoming Poetry Festival and associated programme of Mill Road Poetry events. Please also contact Emily if you would like to get involved in the organising side of things and/or to share some of your work at future poetry events.
