Sharing a love of a lot of the same music (including John Taylor, Norma Winstone, Kenny Wheeler, Theo Bleckmann and Tom Waits), Andrew formed this project together with vocalist Holly Thomas in the summer of 2012. Both musicians are also heavily influenced by the world of literature (especially Philip Larkin and Charles Bukowski) and this project became a vehicle for their settings of poetry to music, as well as wordless vocal compositions and arrangements.
They have performed as part of Jazzlines' Rush Hour Blues at Symphony Hall Birmingham and the Kontrast series at IKON Gallery as well as in various other venues around the city. Holly expanded the duo into various other small line-ups for the recording of her Words Project in April 2013.
For the Rush Hour Blues gig, Lluis Mather joined the band on tenor sax and bass clarinet, and has since become a permanent member of the band, contributing his own compositions and word-settings to the group.
