Leon Røsten Trio is a jazz trio formed in 2015 by students from London Centre of Contemporary Music. After having played together in various bands and projects Leo Geller (bass), Ollie Futcher (drums) and Leon Røsten (piano/composer) started their own trio and swiftly developed their own sound focusing on space and dynamics. This jazz trio creates their own quite different atmosphere with inspiration from both classical and pop music.
In February 2016 they released their debut album «Interpretations». With good feedback and reviews the trio now looks forward to move to the next chapter with many gigs and recordings to come.
"This enjoyable recording from pianist Røsten reels you in with thoughtful melodies and solos that really take their time to breathe" -Bird is The Worm
"It’s rare that we sit through an entire album on the first listen but when we heard echoes of Debussy and Ravel punctuated by a sensibility for harmony and rhythm that points to Leon’s Norwegian heritage we were absolutely hooked" -The Phaze Theory Collective
