Misfit Local

Misfit Local events feature a local Misfit Storyteller sharing his / her experiences, work, and the different adventures encountered and lessons learned along the way. This is followed by a brief Q&A, with soft and alcoholic drinks as well as tasty treats available from our host cafe. We pride ourselves on creating the community we want to be part of; expect to receive a warm welcome, and to leave having made a new friend.

This Month's Misfit Storyteller - Nick Heap

Nick has spent most of his working life listening to people and helping them listen to each other. This is his life's work: he thinks we can solve all the world's problems if we listen to each other and work together.

Nick will tell us how and why a shy scientist changed his career and life totally - showing us that it's often those chance moments that become pivotal in finding our life's work. Nick loves helping people find their purpose and appreciate their unique value. One example: helping someone recover their confidence after a humiliating encounter.

Nick's story is a great listen for those of you who want to make the world a better place but don't know where to start.

Nick is also working on his big idea. Starting your own business is an excellent way to use your unique skills and character; however, young people aren't encouraged to explore the potential of business when making decisions about their careers. Nick is interested in finding ways to overcome this locally; any ideas or connections you have would be most welcome!
