Born in Spain and now living and working in Cambridge, Maricruz has been investigating through her paintings, drawings and small sculptures about
the identity of the women in our current world, our roles as lovers, mothers and workers and our relationships with our own bodies

The starting point of her work was born a few years ago when she began to portrait Eva in her Eden. Most of these pieces were exhibited it in the two solos Eva's body and Welcome future.

Since the day when that capricious and guilty woman appeared in her work she has been painting and drawing the Paradise and everything inside it. The sacred bread, the tempting apples and the evil snake have been sharing the protagonism with the woman who couldn't resist her instincts and because of that we were expelled from Paradise, punished to work to eat and to give birth with pain

Now Maricruz brings to Hot Numbers her latest work mainly made in ink, pen and watercolour where she talks about the Creation. Godessess holding arms, nests and snakes floating in the universe are part of her iconography through which she tells us her vision of where the humankind come from.

Come and meet Maricruz and her work. Everyone is very welcome!
