At Hot Numbers, we’ve always believed that great coffee and great art naturally go hand in hand. Both bring people together, spark conversation, and add a little extra magic to the daily rhythm of our community.

This November, we’re thrilled to welcome Cambridge artist Judy Logan to the Hot Numbers Gwydir Street for her captivating new solo exhibition, The Mighty Crow.

The Art of the Unmisunderstood

What do a freshly poured brew, Cambridge, and crows have in common? More than you might think. Driven by a lifelong fascination with these intelligent, adaptable, and often misunderstood birds, Judy places the crow front and centre in her latest collection.

The exhibition brings together two complementary sides of Judy's visual storytelling:

  • Vibrant Oil Paintings: Rich in colour, texture, and light, capturing the spirit, raw energy, and mischievous character of the crow (featured works include "With Your Whole Life Waiting" and "Finally Something the Sound Couldn’t Burn").
  • Atmospheric Etchings: Predominantly black and white, these limited-edition prints offer a quieter, deeply atmospheric reflection on instinct, transformation, and our connection with the natural world (featuring "Clash of Wills").

"I use the crow as both subject and symbol," explains Judy. "They are intelligent, endlessly adaptable and surprisingly entertaining. For me, they offer a way of exploring things that are sometimes difficult to express through a human face."

Meet the Artist

Judy lives and works right here in Cambridge, bringing a wealth of experience to our walls. She has exhibited widely across the UK—including at the Royal Academy of Arts (where she also worked for several years), The Fry Art Gallery, Mall Galleries, and internationally in the USA. Notably, her limited-edition crow etching Night Flight was acquired by the late actor Sir John Hurt.
