Cambridge Jazz Festival: Recurrent Patton film Screening with Delta Tom at 18:00 on 13th Nov @ Gwydi
As part of our Friday Lates music programme and the Cambridge Jazz Festival, and after a successful showing of Delta Tom’s documentary ‘Recurrent Patton’ in June, we will be featuring a further screening of the film. The film is a gripping and ghostly look into the life and music of Delta Blues legend Charlie Patton through a dream of history in the soul of a man from the English Delta of the East Anglian Fen. Through Gods of the ages, civil wars, civil rights, droughts, fires and flood, Patton's pattern is recurrent, the blues walks like a man and the Black Dog howls. This omnibus version of Delta Tom's mini-series documentary takes a look into the life and times of Charlie Patton/Charley Patton; It's time to take a call from History and a delve through shelves to crack the mystery behind Charlie Patton's influences and his legacy.
Following the film Delta Tom and Steve Smith (Freedom Sound! and music programmer at Hot Numbers) will be playing an evening of Blues and blues adjacent music on vinyl as a relaxed listening session. Tom will be choosing a selection of his favourite blues albums and tracks and will be around to talk all things blues, music, Patton, his film and beyond.
