Additional Information

Mustefa Abakeno is a dedicated smallholder farmer from Ethiopia’s Jimma Zone, where he cultivates 18 hectares of coffee at 2,040 meters above sea level. His farm showcases a rich variety of heirloom cultivars sourced from the renowned Jimma Research Centre, reflecting Ethiopia’s deep coffee heritage. In close partnership with Falcon’s Addis Ababa team, Mustefa has refined every stage of production, from cherry selection and drying to farm management, ensuring exceptional quality while directing more value back to producers. With agronomist Harun’s support, improvements such as shade netting, precise cherry separation, and careful moisture monitoring have elevated both consistency and cup profile.

Beyond his farm, Mustefa’s investment in infrastructure and community impact is remarkable. He has built a modern warehouse in Agaro for Natural processing, equipped with advanced tools like a Sinar moisture reader to guarantee uniformity. Training programs in good agricultural practices further support local farmers, raising both yields and quality. Recently, Mustefa expanded his reach by acquiring four additional purchasing sites, where cherries are selectively sourced from neighbouring growers before being processed at his Beshasha and Kabira stations. The result is a coffee that embodies care, innovation, and the vibrant character of Jimma’s terroir.
