Step away from the everyday and immerse yourself in the therapeutic, tactile art of kurinuki—the Japanese method of intentionally carving clay to produce stunning, organic shapes. Hosted in the cosy, candlelit atmosphere of our Trumpington Street café, this workshop is the perfect opportunity to slow down, get creative, and enjoy our vibrant community spirit.
How the Evening Works Led by Catherine from Hiro Ceramics, the session begins with a short introduction and a ten-minute mindful focus to help you settle into the space. You will be equipped with a wooden bat and all the tools and skills needed to carve your clay. Catherine will be on hand throughout the evening, sharing advice and offering tailored support as your creations come to life.
As you craft, you can relax and indulge in a delicious piece of cake alongside a drink of your choice, perfectly complementing the relaxed rhythm of the evening.
After the Workshop Once your pots are sculpted, finished, and proudly stamped with your initials, Catherine will carefully transport them back to her studio. There, they will be meticulously cleaned, dried, and professionally fired. Your finished ceramics will be returned to Hot Numbers for you to collect within four weeks.
