The Story Behind the Beans
Bukonzo Dream is brought to you in partnership with Agri Evolve, a profit-for-purpose agribusiness founded by Johnny Rowland in 2016. What began as a local collection point designed to ensure fair and prompt payments for farmers has blossomed into a full-scale operation supporting over 2,000 smallholder farmers. In 2022, Agri Evolve completed the Nyabirongo Processing Station, one of Uganda’s most advanced coffee facilities. This investment allows for exceptional quality control of the beans while creating essential, stable jobs for the local community.

When you purchase Bukonzo Dream, you are directly supporting a certified B Corp dedicated to environmental conservation and community empowerment. Agri Evolve actively reinvests its profits into the Rwenzori region through several key initiatives:
- Deforestation Prevention: Supplying over 2,400 energy-efficient stoves to local households to significantly reduce firewood reliance.
- Sustainable Agriculture: Cultivating and distributing over 130,000 native shade trees annually to create better growing environments, alongside distributing high-yield, disease-resistant SL14 and SL28 coffee seedlings.
- Farmer Empowerment: Providing ongoing education on sustainable practices and financial literacy, while utilizing the Rural Sourcing Management (RSM) app to give farmers real-time crop valuations and access to microloans.
