At Hot Numbers Coffee, our spaces have always been built around three core ingredients: coffee, music, conversation. But above all, our cafés are designed as places for people to connect—whether that’s catching up with old friends, sharing a morning pastry with family, or simply taking a moment to slow down.
As our venues get extra busy over the weekend, we want to make sure everyone has a comfortable spot to sit back, relax, and soak up the atmosphere. To protect that vibrant café energy during our peak times, we run a Weekend Tech & Workspace Policy.
How the Policy Works
If you're visiting us on Saturdays or Sundays, here’s a quick guide on screen use across our sites:
Gwydir Street & Trumpington Street: Both venues are completely screen-free on Saturdays and Sundays. Laptops, tablets, and temporary work setups aren't permitted anywhere in the café over the weekend.
The Roastery (Shepreth): Weekend screen use is strictly confined to our designated tech table. Meanwhile, our cosy mezzanine sofa area is a 7-day-a-week screen-free zone, kept purely for relaxing, socialising, and taking it easy all week long.
Why We Have This Policy
When demand for seating is high, long work sessions and open laptops can make a busy café feel more like a quiet office space. By setting aside our screens on weekends, we open up room for dining, laughing, and enjoying the space together.
It’s all about creating a welcoming atmosphere where tables are shared for conversation, taking in the music, and appreciating the simple ritual of a great cup of coffee.
Our Team & Brand Decisions
You might notice a team member popping over to gently ask you to pack a laptop away if it's out in a restricted area.
We actively encourage our team to champion our brand decisions—not to act as "policy police," but to start a real, memorable conversation. When our team asks you to put screens away, they are helping us protect the very atmosphere you came to enjoy, while making sure the next customer walking through the door can find a seat.
We appreciate your support in keeping the weekend vibes alive. If you ever have questions about where to sit or how the policy works, just ask any member of our team—we’re always happy to chat!
Looking for a Workspace at the Weekend?
Take a look at our Meeting Room @ The Roastery. It’s a great option for getting work done at the weekend (if it must)—and also a welcoming space for private groups.
Table bookings are available across all our cafés. Walk-ins are also welcome, subject to availability, with a potential wait time during busy periods. If you are looking to book for a large party or are interested in hiring one of our locations for a private function or event then please contact events@hotnumberscoffee.co.uk.
